--------------------------------------------------------------------Beacon Buzz----------------------------------------------------------

January began our new session of skill squads. Our Hip Hop Dance academy has not only retained most of the students from last session, but has gained a few new students. Our Equity Academy is one of our most popular skill squads, and Lewis has decided to bring a music component into the program. Lewis, being musically inclined, often has a guitar with him, and realized many kids in his class either enjoyed playing with his guitar during down times, or were asking to learn a little during free days. Some of the other students in his room, enjoy singing/rapping, or played another instrument, (i.e. drums, or violin) and Lewis is working to create a space for those kids to collaborate. This month also marks the start of our new partnerships with day staff. We will be placing staff into school day classrooms to provide support for faculty and students. We hope that we will be able to bring together our program and school day in order to help Panthers through collaborative effort. On Thursday, February 14, Beacon will be hosting a Lunar New Year celebration at lunch. All students are welcome to participate.
